This is worth reading. Why Putin cares about the Magnitsky Act

Browder's testimony, which received relatively little coverage, is extraordinary with a senator calling it one of the Senate Judiciary Committee's "most important" hearings.

In it he describes a Russian system of government that operates in the shadows using corruption, blackmail, torture and murder - all led by Vladimir Putin.

Browder said: "Effectively the moment that you enter into their world, you become theirs."

Senators on hot mic: Trump is ‘crazy,’ ‘I’m worried’ - The Washington Post

Very interesting conversation between Republican and Democratic Senators on Trump.

Finally, something they can agree on!

"Yes," Reed replies. "I think — I think he's crazy," apparently referring to the president. "I mean, I don't say that lightly and as a kind of a goofy guy."

"I'm worried," Collins replies.

"Oof," Reed continues. "You know, this thing — if we don't get a budget deal, we're going to be paralyzed."

"I know," Collins replies.

"[Department of Defense] is going to be paralyzed, everybody is going to be paralyzed," Reed says.

"I don't think he knows there is a [Budget Control Act] or anything," Collins says, referring to a 2011 law that defines the budget process.

"He was down at the Ford commissioning," Reed says, referring to President Trump's weekend event launching a new aircraft carrier, "saying, 'I want them to pass my budget.' Okay, so we give him $54 billion and then we take it away across the board which would cause chaos."

Why I love Reddit

Sarah Huckleberry is a bowl of oatmeal in a pants suit with a bad mall haircut. If she weren't Mike's daughter, she'd be the store manager for a Lane Bryant in a Little Rock outlet strip.

Nearly 150,000 attempts to hack SC voter registration system on Election Day: report

Hackers tried to infiltrate South Carolina's voter registration system nearly 150,000 times on Election Day 2016, according to a South Carolina State Election Commission report that was reported on by The Wall Street Journal.

South Carolina, which President Trump won easily during the election, did not find evidence that would suggest the attempted breaches were successful, the paper reported.

The publication said most of the hacking attempts in South Carolina likely came from automated computer bots.

The report comes as the federal probe into Russian election meddling and alleged ties between the Trump campaign and the Kremlin continues.

Senate Intel asks 21 states to publicize election hacking

The Senate Intelligence Committee has asked election officials in 21 states to make public information about Russian efforts to hack their elections systems during the 2016 elections, the panel's top Democrat said Wednesday.
The request was made in a letter sent last week "to all relevant state election officials" from Sens. Richard Burr(R-N.C.) and Mark Warner (D-Va.), the panel's chairman and vice chairman, respectively, Warner revealed in his prepared remarks before a hearing on global election interference.
"I do not see how Americans are made safer when they do not know which state elections systems Russia tried to hack," Warner said.
