You should be having three types of meetings -
1) 1:1's for 30 mins: your 1:1's should be weekly and this should be a "fear-free" zone where you discuss your day-to-day, key blockers, areas where they need help, etc.

2) Performance management: this should be monthly. As you learn/set your OKR's, this meeting should specifically be about how you are tracking . If any of my direct reports are faring badly, i'll also spend sometime in 1:1's recalibrating
3) Talent management: This is usually once a quarter for an hour and driven by the employee. Focuses on aspirations to get to the next level and training to help you get there.
