N Korea 'to put US man on trial'
North Korea says it will put a US citizen on trial for illegally entering the country, the state news agency reports.
The citizen was named as 30-year-old Aijalon Mahli Gomes, from Boston, the Korean Central News Agency reported.
His "crime has been confirmed", it said, without giving further details.
In late January, the North said it had detained an unidentified American. Last week, the US said the state had allowed a diplomat to visit the detainee.
The diplomat was from the Swedish embassy, which represents US interests in Pyongyang. American authorities have not named the US citizen concerned.

Met admits G20 unlawful arrests
The Metropolitan Police has paid damages to protesters it unlawfully arrested during the G20 protests.
The force paid £6,000 in damages to Hannah McClure and Andrew Rubens who were held during a raid on a squat.
The arrests came about when officers in riot gear broke up a meeting of some 60 climate camp activists during the April 2009 global summit in London.
Solicitors for the pair said that others demonstrators held during the same operation would now sue.
The Climate Camp anti-global warming group was one of the key protest groups involved in two days of G20 demonstrations centred on the City of London financial district.
Ms McClure, 22, and Mr Rubens, 23, had joined a meeting at premises at Earl Street on the edge of the Square Mile on 2 April.
Large numbers of police later arrived in riot gear and sealed off the street before detaining some 60 people who had been inside the building.

EFF has posted documents shedding light on how law enforcement agencies use social networking sites to gather information in investigations. The records, obtained from the Internal Revenue Service and Department of Justice Criminal Division, are the first in a series of documents that will be released through a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) case that EFF filed with the help of the UC Berkeley Samuelson Clinic.
One of the most interesting files is a 2009 training course that describes how IRS employees may use various Internet tools -- including social networking sites and Google Street View -- to investigate taxpayers.
The IRS should be commended for its detailed training that clearly prohibits employees from using deception or fake social networking accounts to obtain information. Its policies generally limit employees to using publicly available information. The good example set by the IRS is in stark contrast to the U.S. Marshalls and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. Neither organization found any documents on social networking sites in response to EFF's request suggesting they do not have any written policies or restrictions upon the use of these websites.

As you can see from the chart, Apple's iPhone leads the pack by a longshot with 170,000 apps according to AppShopper.com. AppShopper typically lists more apps than Apple publicly states it has because AppShopper updates its numbers on a daily basis. As of today's count, AppShopper says Apple has approved 198,924 apps with 171,722 available to download. Vivek Kundra told the BBC that he envisaged a world where anyone could "slice and dice" government information and share their results.

US al-Qaeda spokesman 'arrested'
A US-born spokesman for al-Qaeda has been arrested in Karachi, Pakistani security officials have said.
Adam Gadahn has appeared in a number of al-Qaeda videos, going back at least six years, encouraging violent jihad.
The latest emerged on Sunday - the same day as his arrest was reported - urging US Muslims to attack their own country.
He was charged with treason in the US in 2006 and a reward offered for his arrest - which has not yet been confirmed by Islamabad or Washington.
He was the first American charged with treason in more than 50 years.
Described by analysts as one of the best-known faces of al-Qaeda after Osama bin Laden, Adam Gadahn has appeared frequently on videos encouraging attacks on Western targets.

Official government cyber defenders are now required to have the skills of a hacker according to a mandatory certification approved this week by the Department of Defense.
The DoD now requires its computer network defenders (CNDs) pass Certified Ethical Hacker certification program from the International Council of E-Commerce Consultants (EC-Council) to fulfill baseline skills.
The Certified Ethical Hacker qualification tests someone's knowledge in the mindset, tools, and techniques of a hacker.
CNDs -- who are part of the DoD's information assurance workforce -- protect, monitor, analyze, detect, and respond to unauthorized activity within DoD information systems and computer networks.
OMB taking a deeper look at data centers
By April 30, agencies must complete an initial inventory of the hardware at their data centers. Then by June 30, agencies must develop an initial consolidation plan that identifies "potential areas for consolidation, areas where optimization through server virtualization or cloud computing alternatives may be used and a high-level roadmap for transitioning to the consolidated end-state architecture."
A month after that, agencies must finalize their inventories and by Aug. 30, they must complete their consolidation plans and include them in their fiscal 2012 budget request.
"These plans must be approved by OMB by Dec. 31," the memo states. "The final plans will include a technical roadmap and approach for achieving the targets for infrastructure utilization, energy efficiency and cost efficiency."
Kundra writes that OMB will monitor agency progress on consolidating data centers through quarterly updates starting in 2011 as well as annual inventory updates.

Corrupt foreign officials “and their relatives” have brought millions of dollars in “illicit” money into the U.S., according to an investigation by the Senate’s Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations.
“Corruption is a direct threat to our national interest,” Senator Carl Levin (D-MI), subcommittee chairman, said in a statement. “That’s why the United States is engaged in a relentless, worldwide battle to stop the flow of illegal money into and within places like Iraq and Afghanistan. Laundered money is used to train and provide support for terrorists and terrorism. If we want to credibly lead efforts to stop illegal money abroad, we’ve got to stop it here at home as well.”
The 330-page report found that there are “glaring gaps” in the anti-money laundering (AML) programs that banks are required to establish, and that, moreover, corrupt and powerful officials have used the services of “U.S. lawyers, lobbyists, real estate and escrow agents, and other professionals who currently have no obligation” to operate under AML restrictions.

ICE will retain 'Brady' handgun background check data for only one day <-24 hours?
Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) gathers all kinds of personal information about possible “criminal aliens,” and plans to retain that data in “secure facilities behind locked doors” for periods ranging from five to 75 years; except one specific type of data -- information gathered in background checks about foreign individuals attempting to purchase handguns – which ICE plans to retain for only 24 hours.
In a notice published in the Federal Register on February 24, ICE indicated that it plans to store personal information it receives through immigration status checks required under the Brady Handgun Violence Protection Act for only one day.
By contrast, ICE plans to retain similar information it receives about possible criminal aliens through “traditional law enforcement checks” for 75 years; through suspicious activity reporting received on its Tip-line for 10 years; and through immigration status checks related to special security events, such as the Super Bowl, for five years.
