CIA secretly owned world's top encryption supplier, read enemy and ally messages for decades
But what none of its customers ever knew was that Crypto AG was secretly owned by the CIA in a highly classified partnership with West German intelligence. These spy agencies rigged the company's devices so they could easily break the codes that countries used to send encrypted messages.
The decades-long arrangement, among the most closely guarded secrets of the Cold War, is laid bare in a classified, comprehensive CIA history of the operation obtained by The Washington Post and ZDF, a German public broadcaster, in a joint reporting project.

Ukraine prosecutor clears Joe Biden and son Hunter of wrongdoing

WASHINGTON – Ukraine's top prosecutor said he hasn't seen any evidence of wrongdoing by former Vice President Joe Biden nor his son Hunter Biden in dealings with the country.
Prosecutor General Yuriy Lutsenko said Hunter Biden and Burisma, a Ukrainian private gas company of which the younger Biden served on the board, were not the targets of investigations by his office.
He also said the former vice president, and current Democratic 2020 hopeful, didn't act improperly when he called for the dismissal of Ukraine's former prosecutor general, Victor Shoki, who had been investigating the company.
"I do not want Ukraine to again be the subject of U.S. presidential elections," Lutsenko said in an interview with Bloomberg. "Hunter Biden did not violate any Ukrainian laws – at least as of now, we do not see any wrongdoing. A company can pay however much it wants to its board."

Choosing a Paper Topic: The ACE Method

When you write this kind of paper, you're being an advocate or an activist. You want people to get fired up and do something about the problem, so in this case, choosing a paper topic means finding something that fires you up too.
- "Curious" topics tend to lean towards "This is something that needs to be explained, so that we understand it better. I'm going to explain this topic to my audience." When you write this kind of paper, you're being a scientist. You want people to come away with a better understanding of how something works, so choosing a paper topic means finding something you want to explain for yourself, too.
- "Excited" topics tend to lean towards "this is something that everyone needs to know about, so I have to find a way to tell them!" When you write this kind of paper, you're being a salesperson. You want to get other people just as excited about the topic as you are, so choosing a paper topic here means you need something that excites you, too.
Pick one of those things, and you have your paper topic.

Amazon Plans $800 Million Data Center in Argentina
Amazon.com Inc.'s cloud division plans to build a regional data center in a free-trade zone in Argentina, according to people familiar with the matter.
The Seattle-based company is preparing to invest about $800 million in the project over 10 years and will reap considerable tax benefits by locating the data center in the Bahia Blanca-Coronel Rosales districts of the province of Buenos Aires.
